Contents / granularity

• Granularity: per local authority (English housing authorities); one row per LA in each table.
• Geographic coverage: England only. Wales/Scotland/NI publish separate homelessness statistics.
• Time period: quarterly tables cover the named quarter; annual file covers FY 2024-25.
• Sheets include assessments/duties (A1–A13), prevention (P1–P5), relief (R1–R5), main duty (MD1–MD3), and temporary accommodation tables TA1–TA9 (households in TA by type, households with children, out-of-area placements, etc.). TA snapshot counts are the core temporary-accommodation caseload measures. Verified sheet names inside the ODS.
• Note: these are caseload statistics from the H-CLIC data collection. TA spend is not in this release — spend comes from Revenue Outturn (RO4 housing services line, dataset 01).

Refresh cadence

• Quarterly (accredited official statistics), plus an annual detailed file each financial year. Previous quarter is revised with each release. Next edition (April–June 2026) expected roughly autumn/winter 2026.

Open Government Licence v3.0 (stated on the gov.uk live-tables page: "available under the Open Government Licence v3.0, except where otherwise stated").

Caveats

• Previous-quarter figures are routinely revised; use the "revised" edition once available. The 2024-25 annual file is a "corrected" reissue.
• Some LAs miss or partially complete H-CLIC returns in some quarters; MHCLG imputes/flags — check the Notes sheet in each file.
• ODS format, not CSV; multi-sheet with header rows — needs parsing (e.g. pandas read_excel with odfpy).
• H-CLIC replaced P1E from 2018 under the Homelessness Reduction Act; no comparable per-council series before 2018 Q2.
