The number of homeless households the council houses in temporary accommodation outside its own area — families sent to another town or borough because the council could not find anywhere affordable locally. That can mean losing school places, jobs and support networks overnight. A high number means many families are being uprooted; a low number means most stay in their own community.

Households the council placed in temporary accommodation in another local authority's area at quarter end. Out-of-area placement is a service-quality and cost-shunting signal: it disrupts households and exports pressure to neighbouring councils. TA9 has no England/region rows — it starts directly at LAs.
