This is the share of a council's homes with a valid, in-date gas safety check. Gas faults can cause fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning, so landlords are legally required to check every home each year. A figure at or near 100% means the landlord is keeping on top of these checks; anything much lower means some tenants are living in homes whose gas safety hasn't been confirmed recently.
