Damp and mould in homes can make people seriously ill, so failures here are the ones that matter most. This counts how often the independent housing watchdog found a landlord at fault over damp, mould or leaks, scaled by how many homes the landlord has so big and small landlords can be compared fairly. A high rate means residents are disproportionately being let down on the most dangerous kind of repair; a low rate is reassuring, though the small numbers involved make it a wobbly ranking.
